The Digital Darkroom is an art gallery & professional photographic and digital imaging studio located in the heart of Mt Eden. We are a low volume, high quality print studio that offers a range of digital photographic services, specializing in prints on canvas and fine-art papers. We are able to deliver smooth tonal ranges without losing the vividness of a good punchy high contrast print.
John is very experienced in the field photography. He took an interest from early age, taking pictures at motorsport events with his Kodak Instamatic. He began in a professional capacity shortly after leaving school, as lithographer and sports photographer with The Southland Times. He has since worked extensively in photographic developing; in Newcastle, England with one the premier labs in Britain, Color World; and later at Viko Laboratory's professional machine enlarging division in New Zealand. John also worked at Telecom's Yellow Pages in the implementation of design layout and the development of the online presence. John brings strong design and photographic skills and has a keen interest in fostering artistic talent.
Mike is a skilled technician, experienced in dealing with the visual image. He began with a primary interest in the moving image, studying directing at South Seas Film & Television School and later working in post-production at Pickled Possum Productions. More recently, he was manager of MBE Business Service Centre in Mt Eden where he worked closely with Adobe Create Suite software in colour management and graphic design; as well as mastering quality printing under time pressures. Mike has a strong attention to detail and commitment to customer service.
